Brite Ideas in the Media

September 13, 2011 Leave a comment

Total Landscape Care Magazine featured Brite Ideas in their September issue. In their article on holiday lighting trends, they interviewed our national director of sales, John Trimble, to gather his thoughts on what will be popular in the coming seasons. Check out the article, which runs on pages 48, 49 and 51-53. Personally, we think it is great, and the pictures don’t hurt either, but take a look for yourself and let us know what you think!

Contest Time!

September 1, 2011 Leave a comment

Since football season is right around the corner, Brite Ideas decided to run a contest where someone could win a FREE LED “N”.  This isn’t one of those crazy contests in which you have to stay in a car all day, or eat some gross food, all you have to do to win is correctly guess the score of this Saturday’s game between Nebraska and Tennessee Chattanooga.

LED "N"

To submit your prediction, head to our Facebook page and post on our wall. You’re limited  to one guess per account; submissions are due before kick-off. In the event no one correctly guesses the score, the contest will continue to the next week. So spread the word and get your predictions ready!

Great Fall Decorations

Although winter is by far the busiest time of the year for us at Brite Ideas, that doesn’t mean we don’t get excited for the fall as well. Being headquartered in the football crazy state of Nebraska, fall might be the most exciting time of the year, why not have some great decorations for it.

LED Red "N"

Since Nebraska has some of the most loyal fans in all of college sports, we felt like we had to make something for them to show their pride. Therefore, we wanted to introduce one of our newer and most exciting products, the LED red “N”. This product measures approximately 19 inches wide and 21 inches tall, which is a perfect size for people to show their fanhood nearly anywhere. For only 39.95 you can show your Nebraska pride at all times. Visit our website to get more information on how you can order one of these awesome pieces.

Football is far from the only reason we enjoy the fall.

LED-Ghost

One of our favorite holidays, Halloween, is right around the corner.  Like any other major holiday, Brite Ideas Decorating has your decorative lighting options covered. From spooky to silly, we have something in stock for everyone. If the LED ghost (pictured left) isn’t your thing, we have a wide array of other products including: bats, black cats, skeletons, pumpkins, witches, spiders and even a haunted house scene!

If you are one to get things done early, we also have Thanksgiving decorations. So when you are thinking about decorating your home this fall make sure Brite Ideas is your first stop! Don’t forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for the most recent Brite Idea’s news!

LED vs. Incandescent Lights

August 1, 2011 1 comment

Instead of dealing with the twisted cords and faulty bulbs of your old, string, holiday lights  you decide out with the old and in with the new. Easy as that right? Wrong.

Besides the decision on type of bulb of color of the lights, there is a new discussion that needs to be had. Incandescent bulbs vs. LED bulbs both have their positives and negatives; we will outline those here so you can make the right choice for you and your home this holiday season.

We will start with incandescent bulbs, since they have been a holiday lights staple for some time now. The first positive that comes along with purchasing these lights, is that initially the price will be significantly less, depending on the size of your order. The incandescent lights also burn much brighter which is a good thing, but comes with some drawbacks.

Incandescent Bulbs

Some of the drawbacks of a bulb that burns this bright include a higher burning temperature, which could lead to a fire if something were to go horribly wrong. It also takes quite a bit more energy to run these lights, which will increase utility bills.

LED Bulbs

Incandescent bulbs certainly have some qualities that could make them a better purchase for you and your home, but LED lights have made up a lot of ground with home decorators in the last couple of years.

LED bulbs will be a little more expensive at checkout, as we previously mentioned, you will save money on your utility bills. Additionally, durability is one of the core reasons people have made the switch from incandescent to LED. In a study released by consumerreports.org, after 2,000 hours of use each strand of incandescent bulbs tested had at least one faulty light, however after 4,000 hours of use every bulb on the LED strand was still functioning.

Since the lights don’t burn as bright as the incandescent bulbs, they are consequentially better for the environment and your wallet. Since they require less energy to run, you can also run more lights off of a single outlet.

At the end of the day, it is ultimately up to you, the consumer, to figure out what will work best for you and your home.  We hope this has been a useful service in your decision-making process this holiday season! Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.

New Products on Display

One of our favorite parts about our annual “Christmas in July” sale is unveiling some of our new products for the upcoming holiday season; this year is no different. This year, in addition to a couple new items, we are showing a new line of LED, battery operated products.

New, Battery Operated Wreath

The battery operated line includes: small trees, wreaths, garland and numerous pieces of decorative swag.  All of the products, in this line, will run for six hours, turn off automatically and turn back on the next day, at the same time it turned on the first day. The battery housing unit is zip-tied on the back of each item so it will stay hidden, and has switches to control the light (between steady and twinkle) and the timer.

Each product will run for 28 days using four “D” batteries, for the larger items, and two “D” batteries for smaller items. Additionally, there is a rubber gasket around the battery cover, which makes a water-tight seal, allowing you to use this line indoors and out. This line is very easy on the home owner since it will turn on and off automatically. These products are extremely versatile looking great on either the interior or exterior of your home.

Another one of the new products we are very proud of, is our new LED breast cancer ribbon. The pink LED lights will shine brightly throughout the night as you show your support for those affected by breast cancer. The lights come in two different sizes to make sure everyone has a place to put one. The lighted ribbon is not battery operated, and will plug-in like regular lights.

The final product we are unveiling is a new twist on a very common product. Our angel hair lights serve a similar function to your everyday incandescent lights that are draped around the tree, however these offer a very unique and new look to the timeless tradition.  On top of that, these LED lights currently come in three different colors: red, blue and green. This holiday season try a different twist on a classic tradition by giving your tree a taste of the LED angel hair lights!

The team at Brite Ideas is proud of all of these new products, and we hope that you are as proud of them when they are decorating your home this holiday season. For any questions or more information, visit http://www.sayitwithlights.com/

Christmas in July Sale

While the explosions of fireworks may still be ringing throughout your neighborhood, the folks at Brite Ideas Decorating already have their minds on completely different time of year.  While we thoroughly enjoy celebrating our nation’s freedoms, it is hard for us to stop thinking about the annual, upcoming “Christmas in July” sale.

This explosive sale will start next Monday, July 11 and run through the week, ending on Sunday, July 17 in our midtown Omaha location. The sale will feature a 20-50% mark down on most products in the store, including some of our newest products.

One of the new products we are thrilled to unveil is a completely battery-operated wreath. The lights on this wreath will stay steadily lit or twinkle (your choice!) for six hours at a time. For example, if you turn your wreath on at 7:30 PM on night one, it will turn off at 1:30 AM, recharge and be back on at 7:30 PM night two.

So escape the post-firework haze and swing on by our building at the intersection of 38 Ave. and Farnam St.

This is the backside of the wreath, which houses the battery and switches to control light settings.
